GB3VHF: The GB3VHF beacon commenced
operation from the Fairseat site at 17:00 hours UTC on the 27th April 2010, and
is currently in service and operating correctly according to its published
specifications.
GB3UHF: The GB3UHF beacon commenced
operation from the Fairseat site at 09:45 hours UTC on the 15th June 2016.
and is currently in
service and operating correctly according to its published specifications.
If at any time the beacons appears to be off the air (provided that I have
either observed or been notified of the situation), then I will endevour to
give you up to date information on this webpage as soon as practically
possible. If you find either beacon off the air or not operating according to
spec, then please do send me an e-mail letting me know, as I may be unaware of
the outage or problem. My e-mail address can be found on the 'Contact the
beacon keeper' page.
Unfortunately, I am not notified in advance of any electricity company
scheduled power outages and therefore both of the beacons may be subject to
these disruptions from time to time.
The site sharers hut is not supplied with electricity from the BT radio
station but independantly via overhead lines, so no back up generator supply is
available. This also means that the electricity supply is more vulnerable to
lightning & other serious power surges and storm damage etc.
